A minibus takes a group of up to eight in one vehicle, with one driver and one pickup time, instead of splitting the party across two or three separate cars. We run minibus bookings for stag and hen parties, school trips, and whole families heading to the airport together.
A saloon takes four passengers. Once a group runs to six, seven or eight, the usual answer is two cars booked separately, two different drivers, and two arrival times that rarely line up. A minibus keeps everyone together: one booking, one driver, and a single pickup time for the whole party.
Stag and hen groups are one of the most common reasons we get asked for a minibus. A house rented for the weekend, one pickup from the station or the airport, and everyone dropped at the same address rather than trickling in over half an hour in three separate saloons. The return leg works the same way — one booking for the whole group, arranged for whatever time the weekend actually finishes rather than the time it was supposed to.
Schools, clubs and teams use the minibus for the same reason a family does: one journey instead of several. A five-a-side team travelling to an away match, a scout group heading to a campsite, or a school trip with a set start time all fit better in one vehicle with one driver who knows where he's going, rather than a convoy trying to stay together on the road.
Families heading to Heathrow, Gatwick or one of the other London airports often reach six or seven people once grandparents or older children are added in, plus the luggage that comes with a family holiday. A minibus carries that party and their cases in one trip, at a fixed price agreed before you travel, rather than splitting into two cars and two fares.
Splitting a group across two saloons usually costs more than one minibus, once you add both fares together, and it still leaves the coordination problem of two cars arriving at different times from different directions. Book the minibus once, give us the full headcount and luggage, and we send a vehicle sized for the group rather than working it out car by car.

Because there are fewer minibuses in the fleet than saloons, we ask for more notice on a minibus booking than on a standard taxi — same-day is sometimes possible, but a day or two ahead gives you a firmer confirmation, especially for a Saturday wedding or a Friday stag-do pickup.
A minibus for eight has enough boot space for eight normal-sized cases, though golf clubs, ski bags or a full set of team kit will eat into that quickly. Tell us what's coming with the group when you book so we can confirm there's room, or suggest our airport taxi van instead if the luggage outweighs the passenger count. Getting the headcount and the luggage right at booking, rather than working it out on the doorstep, is what keeps a minibus job running to time.
