Booking a taxi for a wedding: what actually needs planning
Wedding transport is one of the few bookings where the timing matters more than almost anything else we do, simply because a wedding doesn't wait for a late car the way a normal journey can absorb a few minutes' slack.
What genuinely needs planning ahead
- The exact pickup time, worked backwards from the ceremony, not forwards from when you'd like to leave. Build in time for photos, a delayed getting-ready schedule, and the walk from the house to the car, then subtract that from the ceremony start time. Most timing problems come from planning forward from a hopeful departure time rather than backward from the one moment that can't move.
- Multiple pickups. If the wedding party is split across two or three addresses, tell us all of them at once when booking, not as an afterthought — it changes the route and the number of vehicles needed, not just the schedule.
- The venue itself, not just the postcode. Some of the venues around Burnham, Windsor and Maidenhead have long private driveways, gated entrances, or a specific drop-off point that isn't obvious from the address alone. Tell us the venue name and we'll know the actual approach, not just the pin on a map.
- A return pickup, booked at the same time as the outbound journey. It's easy to plan the arrival in detail and forget the evening pickup entirely, which is exactly when "we'll sort it on the night" turns into a scramble at midnight.
What doesn't need advance planning
The vehicle itself, within reason. A saloon or executive car for the couple, a 6-seater or minibus for the wider group — this is a straightforward choice once we know numbers, and doesn't need weeks of back-and-forth. Nor does the fare: it's fixed and quoted at booking, same as any other journey, just confirmed against the specific pickup and drop-off addresses on the day.
The one thing worth calling about rather than booking online
Anything with multiple vehicles, multiple pickups, or an outbound-and-return pair on the same day. It's not that the booking system can't handle it — it's that a two-minute phone call on 01753 000 000 lets us confirm the whole day's plan in one go and flag anything that doesn't quite add up, rather than working it out from three separate online bookings that might not be talking to each other.
Wedding transport doesn't need to be complicated. It needs the timing worked out backward from the ceremony, every pickup address named up front, and a call to confirm the whole picture rather than assuming it'll come together on the day.
